Shankar’s Sunday Sappadu at Fire by Shankar in Penang is on the 28th of April from 12pm to 3pm.
It’s my “local goat – Naatu Aadu” special this week. When we had guests at home, my Penang Paati – grandmother would always make this combination. This Sunday it’s Naatu Aadu Kulambhu (home-style local goat curry with potatoes), Naatu Aadu Varuval (local goat dry masala), Muttaikose Kootu (cabbage and dhall), and Muttai, Kilangu, & Thakkali Salad (my mum’s version of an egg, potato & tomato salad), Pappadams and Nei Soru (basmati ghee rice). It’s a real home-style “Virunthu” or feast. As always, we’ll have fresh Toddy. See you this coming Sunday for my Sappadu!
