Enjoy a scenic drive to the Mainland – Peninsular Malaysia through the PENANG BRIDGE to the historical town of Taiping. The Penang Bridge is one of the world’s longest suspension bridge. Visit the TAIPING ZOO, located in a lovely natural setting of the Taiping Lake Gardens and close to the foot of the Larut Hill (Maxwell Hill). Set amongst streams, lakes and a sea of flora, the zoo is currently home to more than 180 species of animals, totalling up to 1,300 individuals, including tigers, lions, elephants, hippopotamus, giraffes, hornbills, orang utans and many others.
Breeding of these animals at the zoo has been quite successful, where proliferations of the Malaysian tiger, lions, Siamang, deer, Nilgai, night heron and many others are seen. Next, enjoy a stroll at the picturesque TAIPING LAKE GARDENS, the first public garden constructed during the British rule in Malaysia, before visiting the CHARCOAL FACTORY. Established since the 1930s, learn the interesting process of how mangrove wood are turned into charcoal. This is a place filled with character where you’ll see the preserved techniques of producing charcoal – exactly the
same methods used since the start of the factory.
